LUCÍA NARVÁEZ
b. 1976, in Monterrey, Mexico. Lucía is a figurative painter and linguist who has lived and worked in Houston for the last 20 years.
Her love for art has been a lifelong experience, and although she has always loved art, she started her art journey only a few years ago, managing to develop her own distinctive style and making her work highly recognizable.
Her process embodies freedom, a form of liberation. She does not plan a painting, she starts working with an idea of what she wants to portray, but as soon as she sees a pair of eyes looking back at her or a figure emerging, she just lets it take the lead.
Painting, for her, is a form of liberation. She likes to think that the human-like figures she paints exist in their own world and communicate through their eyes, without saying a word.
Her paintings are all about expression, emotion, movement, and what they make you feel. Every brushstroke has an intention, and she hopes that each piece makes the viewer feel inspired and wanting to see more.
