LUCÍA NARVÁEZ
b. 1976, in Monterrey, Mexico. Lucía is a figurative artist and linguist who has called Houston home for the last 20 years.
Her love for art has been a lifelong experience, and although she has always loved art, she started her art journey only a few years ago, managing to develop her own distinctive style and making her work highly recognizable.
Her process embodies freedom, a form of liberation, healing, and connection. She does not plan a painting or strive for perfect lines, she starts working with an idea of what she wants to portray, but as soon as she sees a pair of eyes looking back at her or a figure emerging, she just lets the brush take the lead.
Painting, for her, is a form of liberation and healing. She likes to think that the human-like figures she paints exist in their own world and communicate through their eyes, without saying a word.
Her paintings are all about expression, emotion, bold brushstrokes, and what a gaze makes you feel. Every brushstroke has an intention, and she hopes that each piece makes the viewer feel a special connection and eager to see more.
