STATEMENT

Born in the city of Monterrey, México, Lucía is a figurative artist and linguist who has called Houston home for the last 20 years.

"My love for art has been a lifelong experience, and I consider myself fortunate enough to have embraced it and started creating.

Although I have always loved art, I embarked on my art journey only a few years ago, managing to develop my own distinctive style and making my work highly recognizable.

My process embodies freedom - a form of liberation, healing, and connection. I don’t meticulously plan a painting or strive for perfect lines. I start with an idea of what I want to create, but as soon as I see a pair of eyes looking back at me or a figure emerging, I let the brush take the lead.

My work is all about emotion, expression, bold brushstrokes, and what a gaze makes you feel. Every brushstroke has an intention, and my only hope is that each piece makes the viewer feel a special connection and eager to see more.”
